Internacional Vs Gremio was the final the of the Gaucho cup last night. A game made of surprises, twist and a drop of craziness. In the first leg, Inter had lost 3-2 at home to his historical rival.

And yesterday when the game started it looked like they would never lift the Cup. Lucio scored the first goal for Gremio after 15 minutes. It was easy for Gremio, maybe too easy, Internacional was disorganized, losing the ball too quickly. There was a feeling in the stadium that the game was over, but still a lot needed to happen.

28th minutes: out of nowhere the Colorados (internacional’s nickname) came back in the game, Leandro Damiao scored from a cross by Ze Roberto.  And just before half time at the 46th minute, Andrezinho scored with a shot from outside the area.

In the beginning of the second half everything seemed undecided again, both team had their chances but none managed to finalise. Until, Ze Roberto was destabilised in the area and the referee gave Internacional a penalty. D’Alessandro transformed it, to put the score to 1-3.

But the game wasn’t finished yet and 10 minutes before the end, Borges, Gremio’s striker who is in a difficult situation at the moment for his lack of goals, redeemed himself by bringing the score back to 2-3.

Rio Grande do Sul state championship had then to be decided on penalties. And it was Internacional’s goalkeeper, Renan, who made the final decision: making three save against two for Gremio’s goalkeeper, Victor.

Internacional won the penalties 5 to 4 and thus brought back home the Gaucho Champion’s Cup.
