Bastos had previously commented that he had his heart set on a move to Juve and looked to be on his way to Turin. But La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the transfer has stalled, and now Inter are looking to hijack the deal with a bid of their own. Bastos has agreed terms with Juventus, but the club are yet to agree a fee with Lyon.

His agent, Emmanuel Kerchove, says that although Inter are interested, they have not made an official approach, unlike Juventus. “I can confirm the interest from Inter in Bastos, but the Bianconeri have moved first, and they have presented a concrete offer,” he told Calciomercato.it.

“He does not have a preference for Inter or Juventus,” continued Kerchove. “He likes football and wants to play.” Bastos is expected to acquire an EU passport shortly, which would make him an attractive proposition for Italian clubs, as he would not have any impact on the non-EU player quota.

The left-winger, who has played eleven times for the Seleção and scored twice, is a key player for Lyon and has a contract until 2013. However, he appears to be keen to leave, and it is thought that the French side are holding out for a fee of around €15 million.
