It had recently been reported that the move was on the verge of being sealed and it has now been confirmed by Flamengo. Airton returns to the club where he made 70 appearances between 2008 and 2009.
The 21-year-old had recently said he wanted to switch clubs in order to ensure more playing time. After completing his move, he told reporters: “I am very happy with my return to Flamengo.
“The time I spent in Portugal was very good for my career. It helped me and I have matured. It will undoubtedly help my performances for the club.”
Flamengo are currently ninth in the Brasileirão table with five points from their opening three games.
