Bastos has been strongly linked with a move to Juventus, and in May it was reported that he was keen to make the switch to the Turin giants. Internazionale were also interested, but now the 28-year-old says he never asked for a transfer.
In an interview with L’Equipe, he said: “I never stated that I wanted to join Juventus. The fans are upset and I can understand that, but I have never said anything to the press. If the fans can support me again, that would be great.”
While these comments would seem to suggest Bastos would be staying put at his current club, he hinted that he still may leave, concluding: “I still feel as though I have a lot to prove, whether that is at Lyon or somewhere else.”
