“Going to London is my main goal," he said. “I"ve got to work with Mano [Menezes], he saw the games in the World Cup and is well aware of me. I think he was pleased with what we did there.

“There is still a long time to go," continued the 18-year-old. “We have the Pan-American Games later this year, but my biggest dream is to play in the Olympics and I will work hard for it."

Gabriel also said he benefited from the experience of the World Cup, adding: “It was great. The impact will help to open doors for me. I have matured a lot and gained a lot of experience."
