The pair missed the 1-1 draw against Ceara and without them, the team lacked that cutting edge needed to win the tough away tie.

Damiao will make a swift return from duty with the Brazilian national team as he looks set to feature against Ghana tonight at Craven Cottage. However, it is expected he wiill make a quick return back to Porto Alegre and feature for the Colorados against the Coelho.

D’Alessandro has missed out on the last three games due to a muscle strain but has spent the weekend training with the rest of the squad.

Elio Carraveta, head physician at the club, believes the former Portsmouth winger could make his return this week.

Carraveta said: “He trained with the ball and the squad on Monday. We have been looking at how he reacts to the ball and he has done well.”

Inter will be hoping D’Alessandro stays away from injury as they look to get back in contention for the Championship.
