Vasco da Gama 1-1 Atletico Goianiense

The visitors took a surprise lead on 23 minutes when Anselmo got on the end of a cross from Rafael Cruz to head into the top corner. However, their advantage lasted just ten minutes, before Diego Souza scored a header of his own, nodding in Fagner’s cross from close range.

Vasco regain top spot as a result of the draw, but are just one point ahead of Sao Paulo with 13 games remaining. Atletico are currently sitting in midtable, in 11th place.

Gremio 0-1 Botafogo

Botafogo kept up the heat on the leaders with a win at Gremio. The away side are third in the table, but just two points off top spot, and with a better goal difference.

The only goal of the game came on 67 minutes. Sebastian Abreu received the ball in the penalty area, and while Gremio appealed for offside, fired in a cool finish to give the visitors maximum points.

Palmeiras 1-0 Ceara

Palmeiras moved up to seventh place with a narrow win over Ceara, their first in six matches. Despite their poor recent run, they are only eight points off table-toppers Vasco.

The hosts got the winning goal a minute before the break. A cross from the right side was headed down by Luan, and the unfortunate Ceara defender Thiago Matias could only deflect the ball into the net for an own goal.
