Sunday
Internacional 2-1 Atletico Mineiro
Inter, without their injured talisman Leandro Damiao, took the lead on 26 minutes, when Mario Bolatti played a neat one-two with Andres D’Alessandro, before firing in a shot from the right of the area which went in off the underside of the bar.
The visitors equalised with 20 minutes remaining. Daniel Carvalho’s backheel set up the opportunity for a low cross, which was not dealt with by Inter, allowing Renan Oliveira to prod in at the back post.
However, the host were back in front shortly afterwards, when Fabricio was left unmarked at the back post to tap in from a free-kick. Both sides then had a man dismissed: Rever for Atletico and Moledo for Inter, but the score remained the same.
Atletico Goianiense 1-1 Palmeiras
Atletico showed incredible resilience to take a point from this game despite being reduced to nine men.
The away side opened the scoring on 23′, when Henrique got on the end of a free-kick to glance a header past the Atletico ‘keeper. It got worse for the hosts just before half time, when Anderson was sent off.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, Atletico had another man dismissed when Vitor Junior was given his marching orders on the hour. But against all the odds, they managed to snatch a draw when Thiago Feltri smashed in from 12 yards with nine minutes left to play.
Ceara 3-2 Coritiba
Ceara triumphed with the odd goal in five as they picked up a crucial win in their bid to beat the drop.
They went ahead with one of the goals of the season from Roger. A cross came in heading towards the left side of the goal, before the striker lept up to perform a stunning overhead kick into the far corner that went in off the post.
Ten minutes later, Coritiba equalised when a one-two lead to a chance for Bill, which he scuffed into the ground causing it to loop over the goalkeeper and into the net. Ceara regained their lead five minutes before the break, when Edmilson fired in a curling free-kick from all of 40 yards.
In the second half, Bill tapped in the rebound after a free-kick came back off the post to level again for Coritiba, but Roger also grabbed his second to secure the win for the hosts, volleying in from close range.
Avai 1-2 Gremio
Mario Fernandes put Gremio in front just before the break. The Avai defence parted before Fernandes, allowing him a clear run and shot at goal that really should have been kept out by the Avai goalkeeper.
They extended their lead to two in the first minute of the second half. A poor clearance fell to Douglas on the edge of the box, who fired in a fine first time effort low into the corner.
Avai managed to pull one back with 70 minutes played, as Pedro Ken headed in for a corner, but Gremio managed to hold on to leave with maximum points.
