With an eye to participate in the centennial of Santos in 2012, the left lateral Leo renewed his contract, which would end in December, by the end of next year.

“The renewal was already set, with just a few things to tie up,” said the 36-year-old. “My thoughts were to renew because I want to play in the centenary year.”

There is the possibility of Leo becoming a club director upon retirement, as one of the the most successful players at the Vila Belmiro in recent times.

However, Leo was unwilling to commit when it came to retirement talk and did not confirm that he will hang up his boots at the end of the 2012 season.

“I do not know when I’ll stop. I’m feeling very well and everything will be decided by the physical demands.”
