Oscar, who walked out on São Paulo to join Internacional after the non-payment of wages in 2010, has been ordered to return to the Paulista side by the judiciary and his previous contract has been upheld.
“I believe it is in the interests of both parties that these matters be discussed as soon as possible,” said João Paulo de Jesus Lopes, vice-president of São Paulo.
“I believe that very soon he will contact us. We imagine that he will reappear very shortly and it may be today, tomorrow, or the day after tomorrow.”
João Paulo also admitted there is a possibility that the player will remain at Internacional.
“Of course São Paulo takes that into account, because every person has the right to self-determination and must do what they think is right. But, we must not forget that there is a contract and a contract was agreed between all parties.
“We imagine that what was agreed and upheld by the courts will be respected.”
Rhodolfo, São Paulo’s giant central-defender was delighted at the thought of Oscar’s return.
“He is a quality player. I met him with the Seleção, he is a nice guy,” said the defender who himself was linked with a move to Europe in January.
“If he comes to São Paulo, he will be well received. Let’s hope it will work out.”
Casemiro, who had the same agent as Oscar at the time when the Internacional star took up legal proceedings against the club, was also positive.
“Everybody knows the story (of the affair) and everyone has their opinion. If Oscar is here once again, he is a great player and he showed it at Inter, he’ll show his quality.
“On the field he is a great player and off the field he is a great person. Regarding the case, I have no comment.”
Oscar missed out on Internacional’s midweek encounter in the Copa Libertadores after being ordered by the court to rejoin his former club.
Should Internacional wish to retain the midfielder they must settle the dispute financially, with R$ 9 million (£3.5 million) the contract’s agreed release clause.
