Midfielder Willians has left Flamengo for Italian side Udinese. The Serie A club announced the signing of the 26-year-old on their official website on Thursday.

Details relating to the transfer fee and the player’s contract length were not revealed. However, it is believed that a fee of around €3 million has been negotiated with Flamengo, where he made 91 appearances.

Willians, who earned the nickname ‘Pitbull’, began his career with Santo Andre before leaving in 2009. During his first season with Flamengo he helped his side claim the Brazilian Série A title.

His recent arrival at Stadio Friuli fuels speculation that Udinese midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah could be on his way to reigning Serie A champions Juventus.

Udinese also recently announced the acquisition of Caen centre-half Thomas Heurtaux and Vasco midfielder Allan, as they go in search of Champions League qualification next season via the play-off rounds.
