The Recopa, or South American Super Cup, sees the previous year"s winners of the Copa Libertadores and Sudamericana compete in a two-legged encounter.
Having drawn 0-0 in Santiago, Santos secured a win on their home territory thanks to goals from Neymar and Bruno Rodrigo – despite the former also seeing a penalty saved.
In the 27th minute, Neymar played a swift one-two with striker André, before calmly finishing past keeper Jhonny Herrera to open the scoring, before seeing his effort from the spot saved after a foul by Jorge Rojas.
Early in the second-half, Santos doubled their advantage as Bruno Rodrigo headed home from Arouca"s free-kick to secure the win, despite the Chilean side"s best efforts.
Neymar told reporters post-match: “I"m very happy. This is very united group and that"s a key factor for us when playing this kind of finals. We are making history."
When asked about his future, he added: “I want to enjoy playing football until I"m 40. Today, I"m a Santos player and I want to celebrate now."
Despite his departure earlier this week, former star Ganso was also not forgotten by his close friend.
The starlet added to Fox Sports: “Paulinho [Paulo Henrique Ganso], you are part of this. You played in the first game in Chile. This title is yours also."
