Copa Libertadores champions Corinthians have already started preparing for the Fifa World Club Cup this December in Japan, despite the current Brasileirão having 11 rounds left.

Fábio Mahseredjian, fitness coach of the São Paulo club, told Lance!net that they plan to rest the senior players, particularly those over the age of 30 like Danilo and Emerson Sheik, once the club reaches the target of 45 points, so to give the best possible chance in Tokyo.

He said: “We will arrive well at the Fifa Club World Cup later this year. Who will have played a full season? Wallace? No, because he was out for three months because of an ankle injury. Edenilson? No, he had foot injury and then a head injury. Emerson Sheik? He did not play much earlier in the year.

“Those who need to have some physical work, can get it once we have 43, 44 or 45 points in the Brasileirão. Those who do not need it, will not.”
