Corinthians goalkeeper Cássio has stated he does not want to rest in the Brasileirão, despite the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in December where they could meet Chelsea.

The 25-year-old is enjoying playing every game for Corinthians and does not want to stop, despite the club’s plans to rest the senior players once the club reaches the target of 45 points.

Those over the age of 30 in particular, such as Danilo and Emerson Sheik, will be saved in order to give the team the best possible chance in Tokyo later this year.

Cássio said: “I want to play, especially because it is a long time without playing.

“I think he [Corinthians coach Tite] will end up giving time off to everyone. But if you ask me, I want to play."

The Timão, who are eighth in the league table, currently have 39 points and can add three more towards their target with a win against Flamengo on Wednesday.

The goalkeeper added: “Flamengo have players of great quality. Vagner Love has been one of the greatest forwards in Brazilian football.

“We expect a tough match against Flamengo, as there are no easy games."

The uncapped Seleção international, who was recently called up for friendlies against South Africa and China, has become the first-choice goalkeeper at Corinthians.
