Neymar, who was making his 200th appearance for Santos, was the star of the show as he tormented the visitors’ defence throughout, getting himself on the scoresheet in fine style.

Santos took the lead after just 18 seconds through Argentine Ezequiel Miralles, before Neymar sprang to life minutes later with a piece of individual brilliance to double his side’s lead.

Atlético would respond before the 20 minute mark as Bernard headed home a beautifully delivered cross by Marcos Rocha, before former Manchester City striker Jô completed the comeback shortly after.

The game was, though, marred by a potentially serious injury to Galo defender Rafael Marques, who left the stadium by ambulance during the first period after a clash of heads challenging for a high ball.
