Júlio César’s Queens Park Rangers remain rooted to the bottom of the English Premier League table after drawing 1-1 at home to Everton on Sunday, leaving the west London side still searching for their first victory of the season.

Mark Hughes’s team had taken an early first half lead at Loftus Road through Junior Hoilett. Two minutes had gone when the former Blackburn forward shot from the edge of the box and his strike, which clipped the heels of Everton left back Leighton Baines on its way, flew past a stranded Tim Howard.

However, Everton were level after 33 minutes. Steven Pienaar’s free kick was met by Sylvain Distin, who thundered a header against the post only to hit the back of César and roll over the line.

Former Inter keeper César had a relatively quiet afternoon, with his only notable saves coming from a free kick from Everton’s Croatian striker Nikica Jelavic and a close range stop from Phil Jagielka.
