Grêmio midfielder Elano has been in superb since joining the Porto Alegre club in July from Santos and has revealed that he is enjoying life at his new club, who currently sit 3rd in the Brasileirão.

Elano, 31, has 7 goals in 26 games for Vanderlei Luxemburgo’s team and spoke at length with Terra about settling into life at his new club.

He said: “It’s not been long, but there is an important rapport. Despite the short time I’m really enjoying Porto Alegre, the way people are treating me and most important is that the work is paying off.

“I did some math and there have been 24 or 25 games since I came here. As I always say I always liked being in a supporting role and doing things with simplicity and here at Grêmio isn’t any different.”

The player decided to join Grêmio after first being contacted by the board and then being impressed with the coaches vision for the club.

“The first contact was with the Board, they called me asking if I was interested in coming to the club and I said yes because of the professionals here are people I know, Vanderlei Luxembourg and the trainers Antônio Mello and Paulo Paixao. And from the moment that I said yes, the Guru called me, asking how I was, if I was motivated.

“He showed me the planning that the Grêmio has and I am very happy to return to work with him.”
