Corinthians midfielder Douglas has admitted that he is not interested in representing the Brazilian national team and is just concentrating on playing for the Timão.

The former Grêmio player denies a rift with coach Mano Menezes or anyone connected to the Seleção, saying that he just has “no desire” to represent his country.

He told Globo Esporte: “Actually, the Seleção never seduced me. I never had the objective of selection, because my experience was not the best. I have no goal of returning to the national team. I have never forced anything for it. I’m living a good moment in Corinthians, that’s fine.”

Douglas, 30, has represented Brazil just once in his career and it was not a good experience. It was a friendly in Qatar against rivals Argentina and it was Douglas who gave away the ball for Lionel Messi to score the only goal of the game.

However, the playmaker doesn’t believe he deserved the criticism he received after the error.

“I do not think they would have scored if the ball had fallen at the foot of a anyone, okay, but it fell at the foot of the world’s best. The blamed me, but I know that the goal was not my fault.”
