Shakhtar Donetsk striker Eduardo believes that the Ukranians must be on their game ahead of Tuesday night’s Champions League tie with FC Nordsjaelland, with qualification for the later stages of the tournament reliant on a win.

Croatia international Eduardo, 29, will likely feature from the bench in the encounter, with Shakhtar looking to take advantage of rivals Chelsea and Juventus meeting in Turin.

Despite the opportunity, the former Bangu striker believes it would be a mistake to underestimate their opponents in Copenhagen.

Eduardo told the Shakhtar official site: “We watched some of the Nordsjælland games, and they played well in Copenhagen against Chelsea. Although the Blues eventually won 4-0, the Danes put on a very organized display.

“Chelsea were leading by a narrow margin till the closing stages of the game before scoring the rest of the goals. So we are expecting a difficult match, but we want to advance to the next round, so we need to win.

“Nordsjælland can possess the ball keep the ball well. That evening we played well: we were better than the opponents, and won 2-0. However, that match is in the past – we are thinking only about Tuesday’s game.”
