São Paulo president Juvenal Juvêncio insists he has no regrets over the sale of full-back Jean to Fluminense, after the player’s recent rise to the Brazilian national team.

Jean, 26, moved to Fluminense in early 2012 with the Rio de Janeiro side acquiring 35% of his economic rights for R$6 million, with the option to purchase a further 50% before June 2013 for R$3.5 million.

Juvêncio believes that the Carioca side will take-up their option to purchase a bigger stake in one of the stars of the 2012 Brasileirão and defended the club’s decision to sell their academy product.

“Jean will be sold on a permanent basis,” Juvenal told Radio Globo. “I do not regret anything.

“I want him to leave and be successful, like Luis Fabiano or Kaká. I want to sell all those who have been successful, to show the vitality of the club and our youth products.

“Jean has a fixed clause and they should exercise it. They’ll do well to sign him and we are satisfied.”
