Flamengo director of football Zinho has admitted that Flamengo maybe interested in signing former player and current Bayer Leverkusen star Renato Augusto for next season.

Augusto, 24, has recently admitted that he could be tempted by a move back to Brazil as he hopes to fight his way into the national team squad ahead of the 2014 World Cup which will be held in his home country.

Speaking to Fox Sports TV, Zinho was quoted as saying “Renato Augusto is quite interesting “ but went on to add that no definite decision will be made on player recruitment until after the Flamengo presidential election which will take place on 3rd December.

The attacking midfielder was part of the Flamengo team that won the Copa do Brasil in 2006 before leaving in 2008 to sign for Leverkusen for a fee rumoured to be €10million.

Augusto has won just 3 caps for Brazil so far in his career.
