Corinthians striker Emerson Sheik believes it is not impossible that new Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari could pick him of the national team, given that he tried to sign the player when coach of Palmeiras before he moved to the Timão in 2011.

Sheik, 33, who was the hero of Corinthians Copa Libertadores victory this year, would have made the move to Palmeiras had Fluminense, his club at the time, not demanded such a high transfer fee and the striker believes the former Portugal coach was the right man to replace Mano Menezes.

He told Globo Esporte: “I was happy by choice though. He’s a winning coach, that why he is there with (Carlos Alberto) Parreira (technical coordinator Selection). As a Brazilian, I was happy.

“I am motivated by his statements, and why not dream about a recall? I naturalised in Qatar, but was prevented from playing by Fifa, because I had already played for Brazil at Under-20 level.

“I can only play for the Brazilian national team. Being picked or not, it is a motivation to come back strong next year, seeking titles.”

And the striker was also keen to state that he is happy at Corinthians, despite offers to go back to the Middle East.

“I have befriended the sheik of Qatar. A guy who likes me and sometimes tried to get me out of Brazil. But I’m right here, happy.

“I do not depend on money. There I would receive more, but money does not bring happiness. I can not see far from Corinthians or my children. I live 45 minutes away from them, and I can not go a week without visiting them.

“But they (Arab leaders) are always very strong. I want to stay.”
