Atlético Mineiro full-back Marcos Rocha insists he knows nothing of reports in England that Newcastle United are looking to bring him to the Premier League in the near future.

Marcos Rocha, 23, was recently voted Best Right-Back in the Brasileirão 2012 and received his first call-up to the Brazil national side earlier this year, but knows nothing of the reported interest.

The full-back told Brazilian media outlet Globo Esporte that he had discussed the issue with his agent and the club president, but no one was aware of any approach.

“My press adviser talked to me about that and then my agent called me. None of them knew anything about it, and neither did [Atletico Mineiro"s director of football] Maluf," Rocha told the media outlet.

“But everyone knows the Premier League is one of the best leagues, it"s hard, not everyone can play there, so I can only be thankful."

Rocha also believes that Atlético will not look to sell either him or their other young star Bernard over the summer, with a Copa Libertadores campaign ahead of the club.

The defender added: “He calmed everyone down and said he won"t let anybody leave, not even Bernard, before the end of Atletico Mineiro"s participation in Libertadores. So if I have to go, it will be after Libertadores."
