World Cup winning centre-back Lúcio was officially unveiled as a São Paulo player at the Morumbi on Wednesday, having put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal with the Paulista club.

Lúcio, 34, terminated his contract with Italian side Juventus earlier this week after just six months in Turin, having found opportunities limited with the Serie A winners.

On Tuesday, though, it was announced that the former Brazil captain would be returning to his homeland for the 2013 season and joining Copa Sudamericana champions São Paulo.

It is hoped by the club"s hierarchy that the veteran defender can help the side challenge for next season"s Copa Libertadores title—a tournament known for its gruelling nature.

"For me, I treat every game like a war. Every game is important, but in this competition [Libertadores] your concentration and energy have to be better," Lúcio told reporters at the press conference.

"The team need to have these qualities. Of course, I will give my all to defend the colours of São Paulo and, principally, it will be in this competition. It is what me and my team-mates desire. I want to do my best to help the club and to make this a reality."
