Former AC Milan keeper Dida has revealed his delight at signing a one-year contract with Grêmio and getting the chance to compete once again at the highest level.

Dida, 39, retired from football in 2010 after leaving the Italian giants, but decided to return to football with Portuguesa in May this year.

“I am very happy,” Dida told Lancenet!

“There are nearly seven months I was playing again. I am thrilled to be at a big club, to wear this shirt and have goals in major championships.

“I am 39 years old and did not expect this opportunity. I want to enjoy the moment. The career of a footballer is, in a way, short but for goalkeepers we can extend further. My experience helps me.”

And the 39-year-old revealed that he had not thought about calling it quits for a second time after leaving Portuguesa.

“I did not think about retiring. My goal is to play. Since returning to Brazilian football, I dedicated myself a lot and prepared myself. I had great results and want to do the same here. I can still play and do a great job.”
