Vasco da Gama has veteran midfielder Felipe on a free transfer after statements made by the club idol earlier this week.

Felipe , 35, who becomes the second established player to leave the club this week after Juninho signed for New York Red Bulls, angered the Vasco directors by saying that he did not believed the club would pay the players the wages they are owed.

This outburst, along with the player’s age and high salary, were enough to force the directors to act.

“I have not spoken with Felipe,” executive director René Simões told Lancenet!

“But their employers were reported. It’s a decision we made because we cannot accept that an employee say that being with back pay, will not be paid for anyone.

“Our situation is improving, but as I think we will still suffer a bit in early to late, could not accept this situation. Who is late, missing, will be paid.”

Felipe has played over 250 games for Vasco in two seperate spells.
