Fluminense left-back Carlinhos has described 2012 as the best year of his career, after winning the Brasileirão, being voted the best left-back in the league and receiving a call-up to the national team from former coach Mano Menezes.
Carlinhos, 25, who started his career at Santos, has been with the Brazilian champions since 2010 after moving from Santo André and this year saw him win his second Brasileirão title.
“It’s the best year of my life, professionally speaking,” he told Rado Tupi.
“There were two titles. I was the best left-back in the Brazilian Championship. And had the callup to the Brazilian national team. I had no injuries.
“The club is already preparing for next year and, of course, the priority will be the title that has escaped Fluminense, which is the Libertadores.”
Despite Carlinhos having a great season, Fluminense are looking to sign another left-back to provide competition to the former Santos star and have been linked with Botafogo’s Márcio Azevedo.
