Inter Milan are reportedly battling Premier League sides Newcastle United, Fulham and Reading to sign FC Twente defender Douglas.

The 24-year-old centre-back was heavily linked with a move to England during the summer, with Newcastle and Fulham said to be potential destinations.

Newly-promoted club Reading are also thought to be interested, according to TalkSport and Dutch magazine Voetbal International.

However, the most recent reports suggest the Nerazzurri have joined the battle for Douglas’ signature, having been linked with him on and off for several months.

The Brazilian-born Dutch international is thought to be back on their radar with the opening of the January transfer window, as the Serie A side look to bolster their backline.

Douglas, who turns 25 later this month, has just six months remaining on his contract with the Tukkers, having joined the club in 2007.

Therefore, Steve McClaren’s side may be looking to cash in on the defender before losing him for free in the summer.
