Everton are among a number of clubs interested in Nacional full-back Fernando Marçal, according to the player’s agent.
The 23-year-old Brazilian, who is thought to be attracting interest from top European leagues, is linked with a move to Goodison Park as a potential replacement for Leighton Baines.
Marçal is currently starring in the Portuguese Primeira Liga for Nacional, who he joined in 2011 from lower league side Torreense.
Lee Payne, his British representative, told Sky Sports: “We know Everton have watched him, that is true – but Fernando has been playing very well and a number of clubs are following his progress.
“As far as we are aware no bids have been made but we know a number of clubs have him on their list and it would not be a shock if someone did push ahead with something this month.
“But Fernando is happy and settled and so if he does not move in January that is no issue at all.”
