Kleber has dismissed rumours saying that he will leave Grêmio and has insisted that he is happy in Porto Alegre.

Kleber, 29, joined Grêmio in November 2011 from Palmeiras and enjoyed a good start to his career with the tricolour before suffering a number of injuries which ruled him out for the majority of the second half of last season.

The former Dynamo Kyiv player faces tough competition for a place this season as coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo has bought in forwards Willian José and, potentially, Eduardo Vargas to add to Marcelo Moreno and André Lima but the striker says he is happy at the club and willing to fight for his place.

“I’ve heard and read in the press and on social networks a lot of people saying that I could leave the club,” he told Lancenet!

“I would just leave if I wanted to terminate my contract here. I adapted very well to the club and the city. The Grêmio supporter’s received me with affection.

“I’m happy here. I made friends inside and outside of football. Nobody ever tried to talk me into going out and I never thought of that. Some clubs probed my manager, but that is it. I want to win titles at Grêmio and steadily strengthen my relationship with the fans.”

And Kleber believes that the club have a good chance of success this year, with a squad that has the right mix.

“We have a good group, with several important features like quality, youth, experience. A good mix.

“Players that can decide a game. With focus, we can go far. That’s our goal. Let’s aim to win competitions. Grêmio needs it. We will do everything to achieve.”
