Internacional have completed the signing of former Grêmio right-back Gabriel on a two year deal.

Gabriel, 31, who started his career with São Paulo, joined Grêmio in 2010 from Greek club Panathinaikos but left the tricolour in December at the end of his contract.

“Once there was a official termination with Grêmio, we entered into a contract and made a very quick negotiation,” Internacional director of football César Luis Souto de Moura told Globo Esporte.

The signing has been praised by new coach Dunga, who spoke in glowing terms of his new recruit but did not promise that he would be first choice.

“He is an excellent professional who started very well at Grêmio but did not have a great season. He will come to help the group, but there is the question of selection. Each player will have to win their place.”

Gabriel, who has also played for Fluminense, Malaga and Cruzeiro, will be presented to the media on Monday.
