Diego Tardelli has revealed his excitement at the prospect of playing with his idol Ronaldinho after re-signing for Atlético Mineiro.
Tardelli, 27, completed his move back to Atlético, where he spent two season from 2009-2011, last week for €5.25million from Al-Gharafa and is hopeful he can follow Ronaldinho’s example and get back into the Brazil national team.
“It is an honour to play alongside Ronaldinho,” he told Globo Esporte.
“I already swapped shirts with him, and now I can play alongside a world icon. He is intelligent, and I think I know the pitch. I think it will not be difficult, no.
“This was a goal for me to return. At the right moment, a good moment for Atlético-MG. I was with Dunga and Mano. Now it will depend on me to do well in this Libertadores and the Brasileirão. It depends on me.”
And Tardelli revealed his superstitious side by saying that he always does well in odd years.
“I carry it with me always. My major titles and individual titles are in odd years. It has everything to be again this year. My goal is to celebrate a major trophy in 2013.”
