Following a hat-trick in his first ever senior game outside Brazil, Bernard has been lapping up the adulation of his colleagues and the South American media.

Bernard, 20, helped his Atlético Mineiro side to a 5-2 away victory against Arsenal di Sarandi and, in the process, has earned himself the moniker of “chiquito fenômeno” in the Argentine media—the little phenomenon.

Post-match, when questioned by reporters, Atlético manager Cuca also revealed that Brazil manager Luiz Felipe Scolari has made enquiries about the rising star of Mineiro football.

Following his performance and all the praise, coming his way, Bernard was understandably ecstatic about his showing on Tuesday night.

“It’s a moment that I will remember. To score three goals in a game is remarkable and today is no different. I scored three times to help the team to victory,” he told reporters post match.

“It was a happy day for me and for Atlético. My first international game for the club and I scored three goals—it’s unforgettable. It should be celebrated!”
