Oeste director of football Mauro Guerra has admitted that he has no say in Manchester United target Antonio Carlos’ future.

The official believes the youngster will honour his loan contract before returning to Corinthians in November, but says he is powerless in face of such a move.

“The player is under contract with us until the end of the Second Division,” Guerra told Globo Esporte.

“But he is still a Corinthians player, so Corinthians have all the power in negotiations.

“When their board decide to have the player back he will have to return, be it to play for Corinthians or to negotiate with another club.”

This comes after claims in the English press that Manchester United are keeping tabs on the Corinthians and Brazil Under-20 starlet.

The 19-year-old defender has made a handful of appearances for the senior side since progressing through the youth ranks at the Brazilian club.

However, it was his performances for the junior side that caught the attention of the Premier League giants, after he led his team to the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior title last year.

Old Trafford officials have reportedly approached the Corinthians’ hierarchy, and have opened initial talks with the club’s director of football Edu regarding the player’s availability.

United are not expected to make an official move anytime soon but will monitor the Seleção U20 captain’s development.
