Internacional manager Dunga has praised former Brazil defender Juan after his impressive performance in a 5-0 victory over São Luiz in the Taça Piratini final on Sunday.

Juan, 34, returned to Brazil from Roma last summer but failed to make a significant impact upon arrival, with his confidence reportedly low after initial setbacks.

His manager, though, revealed that the club have been working hard to restore the confidence of the 79-cap international.

"I don"t need of Juan"s quality," he told reporters. "On a pitch like [Sunday], the elegance with which he plays is fantastic. We gave him confidence, to allow him calmness when he feels good.

"We would keep Juan after training, for him to do exercises and regain confidence. We have worked for a long time on this."

Internacional will now look to emerge victorious from the second-round of the state championship. Should they do so, would avoid the need to participate in a final playoff to decide the eventual outcome.
