Internacional forward Rafael Moura hopes that teammate Leandro Damião earns a quick recall to the Brazil squad, with his gametime limited by the striker’s presence at the moment.

Moura played his first game of the season against São Luiz on the weekend, scoring his first goal. He has been forced to watch from the sidelines, though, as Damião and Uruguayan Diego Forlan have taken the starting berths.

While maintaining that he will remain patient for his opportunity, the former Fluminense man admitted that he hoped Damião would earn a Brazil recall in order to open up a space in the first-team.

“Whatever the situation it is not nice to be a reserve, regardless of who is the starter,” he told reporters.

“I always say that I support Damião a lot—he is a colleague, a friend and we are very united as a team.

“We know that if Damião maintains this form he will be called to the Seleção and I will have more opportunities.

“I have a long contract and sometime or other I will have a run in the team as a guaranteed starter. I was signed for this.”
