Flamengo goalkeeper Felipe has asked for patience from the club’s supporters as they try to a build a winning team under new boss Jorginho.

The rubro-negro have endured an inconsistent start to the Taça Rio this year having only managed to pick up four points from their opening three games.

With four fixtures remaining in the group stage of the second turn of the Rio de Janeiro state championship, Flamengo currently find themselves three points adrift from second place.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday evening, Felipe reminded Flamengo’s fans that the team are going through a transition period. The 29-year-old said:

”Since the beginning of the year we knew it would be a difficult. There have been changes at the club and the fans are impatient.

”The average age of the team is young. I was the oldest player in the team against Bangu.

”We hope the players mature; some are able to quicker than others.

”We ask the fans to be patient. Flamengo are going through changes and getting results can take time.”

Flamengo’s next game will be against Audax in the Taça Rio on Sunday.
