Flamengo midfielder Gabriel has described his sides 2-1 defeat to newly-promoted Audax as ‘shameful’.

The rubro-negro found themselves a goal down after just three minutes at the Moça Bonita stadium on Sunday, with André Castro giving Audax the lead.

Flamengo took just under an hour to get back on level terms thanks to Gabriel’s strike creeping in at the near post.

Fla then went on to enjoy the majority of possession during the second half and had a handful of chances to win the game, but Audax punished the Rio de Janeiro giants in the 91st minute, with Hyuri slotting home the winner.

”It is a shameful result,” Gabriel told reporters. ”We have to lift our heads and work for the rest of the year.”

”I would trade my goal for the win, but unfortunately we didn’t win the game.”

With just three games remaining in the group stages of the Taça Rio, Flamengo’s chances of reaching the semi-finals look very slim as they currently find themselves six points behind second-placed Fluminense.
