São Paulo"s manager Ney Franco believes the team need to improve a lot if they want to beat Atlético Mineiro in Copa Libertadores.

The Tricolor struggled to beat Penapolense 1-0 at the Morumbi stadium for the quarter-finals of the São Paulo State League yesterday.

The manager commented after the game: “If we are to talk about Atlético Mineiro, I liked what we did here [at Morumbi in the group stage when we won 2-0], but to beat Atlético Mineiro we have to do a lot more than we did against Penapolense."

“We will talk about this soon, we have to rest and rethink the team, the transition problem. In order to win, we"ll need to play the same way we won the first time."

São Paulo will face Atlético Mineiro on Thursday for the first leg of the Copa Libertadores round of 16, and they will meet arch-rivals Corinthians in the São Paulo league semifinals next weekend.
