Cruzeiro"s director of football Alexandre Mattos has ruled out the possibility of signing Palmeiras" defender Henrique and São Paulo"s left-back Cortez.
Both players have been rumored to join Cruzeiro after Copa Libertadores, but the club"s director has denied this possibility.
Alexandre Mattos told Globo Esporte: “I made it clear, people are reckless sometimes. Cruzeiro would never seek Palmeiras or São Paulo when they have decisions to play, even we had interest in the players."
“Cruzeiro have two good left-backs, so we did not seek Cortez. There is something good though, a year or two ago, nobody would imagine Cruzeiro could sign anybody. This is a sign Cruzeiro are working well."
He added: “Henrique not [a possibility] because our focus in on Dedé. Palmeiras are playing a tough competition, we have to respect them. Cruzeiro and Palmeiras are historic partners, we would never try to sign a player from them under cthe current circumstances."
