Santos’ manager Muricy Ramalho has admitted that Corinthians deserved to win the São Paulo State League title.

Corinthians won the state league title after a 1-1 draw at Santos’ Vila Belmiro stadium, the Timão won the first leg 2-1.

Muricy Ramalho said after the game: We played well in some moments and dominated possession. We raised the game during the first half, when we were better, but we were punished by conceding a goal, soon after we scored our goal.”

He added: “Sometimes you really want something but only happens what you can show. We had chances but we could not keep our advantage, which was important.”

“Corinthians were better overall in the two games. I believe that after 180 minutes they deserved their title.”

Both teams will now get ready for the Brazilian national league, which starts on the weekend. Santos also have a Brazilian Cup game against Joinville this week.
