Former Arsenal defensive midfielder Gilberto Silva has admitted that he would like to end his career at his current club Atlético Mineiro.

Gilberto Silva made his return to Atlético Mineiro this year, after playing for Grêmio from 2011 to 2012.

The defensive midfielder plans to finish his career at the club, he said: “I don’t know if that will happen, I came with a one-year contract.

I am making the most of it, each day of work, each day of training, every match I have the chance to play. I have not a scheduled a day for my retirement, but it will be cool if it ends here in Minas Gerais, where my story started.”

He started his career at América-MG in 1997 and has since then played for Arsenal, Atlético Mineiro, Panathinaikos and Grêmio, as well as winning the World Cup in 2002.
