With two wins out of two in the new season, Palmeiras have made a good start in their quest to return to the top division at the first attempt.

One of their standout performers so far has been 20-year-old attacker Leandro, who is currently on loan at the São Paulo-based club from Grêmio.

In last night’s game against ASA he bagged all three assists (the third of which deflected off a defender on its way through) as his team stormed to a 3-0 victory away from home, with all goals scored in the first half.

Many fans were disappointed to see such a talented prospect plying his trade in Brazil’s second division, but it might be good for him to get some regular games under his belt.

There’s also more room to experiment with the player, who last night played just off the attack to great effect.

Leandro has already been capped once for Brazil in a game against Bolivia, in which he scored a goal after coming on in injury time for Ronaldinho Gaúcho.
