Romarinho has signed a new contract with Corinthians, despite rumors linking him to European football.

The forward joined Corinthians last year after shining for Bragantino and has been recently linked to Leverkusen and to Shakhtar Donetsk but Corinthians plan to keep the player for two more years, and the player was not willing to leave.

The club’s president Mário Gobbi had also ruled out a transfer to foreign football, affirming that Romarinho could become a national team player in the future.

His contract has not been extended, it will expire in 2016, but his salary has been considerably increased.

Romarinho’s biggest moment was last year, when he scored a goal against Boca in the Copa Libertadores final.

He has since then earned more chances at the first team and is regarded by the club’s board and staff as a promising player.
