Goalkeeper Victor is pleased that his save helped Atlético Mineiro advance to the Copa Libertadores semifinals.

He saved a penalty taken by Riascos near the end of the game, when the score was 1-1, and a Tijuana goal would eliminate Atlético Mineiro.

Victor talked with reporters after the game, he said: “It was the most important save of my life, the key moment that allowed Atlético Mineiro to advance to the semifinals.

It was exciting, I can’t describe it, I had never experienced anything like this even though I am 30 years old. I am happy that I saved the penalty in the last minute. We didn’t play well but the team’s effort was rewarded.”

He added: “There is not much to say, I was very excited. I think we deserved to advance not because of the match, but because of the competition and the year we are having.

Tijuana made the game much harder for us, we have to celebrate and learn from it.”

Victor also explained how he saved the penalty: “I tried to focus, I studied the penalty taker too. I didn’t have much information, but Riascos is one of the few I knew well.  I chose the side and used the foot to save the penalty.”
