Santos announced today that they have sacked their manager Muricy Ramalho.

Just days after losing star player Neymar to Barcelona, the club will now be looking for a new manager, with rumours circling that Marcelo Bielsa might be the man for the job.

The coach leaves the club with a record of seventy two wins, thirty six defeats and forty two draws, in the one hundred and fifty matches he was in charge at the club.

He joined Santos in 2011, winning the Copa Libertadores in 2011, two Paulista Championships, and the Recopa Sudamericana in 2012.

He was often criticized for his tactics, dubbed “Muricybol” by fans, which left gaps between attack and defence and relied heavily on counter attacks.

After the departure of Neymar, on whom they were often reliant, the club may see this as an ideal time to get a new manager in and take the club in a new direction.
