Fabio da Silva believes his twin brother Rafael is still paying for his mistake in the final of the Olympic football tournament, as he continues to be overlooked by the national team selectors despite his good form for Manchester United.

Rafael’s under-hit pass lead to Mexico’s first goal in the game, as the long awaited Olympic football gold evaded them yet again.

Since then Rafael has become one of the best right backs in the English league, and was one of the standout players in Manchester United’s 2013 title winning side.

Fabio commented in an interview with the Daily Mail: “Rafael should be in the squad to play England and he should be in the squad for the Confederations Cup.

“But the manager didn’t call him up. Everyone makes mistakes and it’s time to get over it. Those who play best have to be in our national team. My brother is playing like the best and the least he deserves is to be in the squad.” he added.

Rafael will be aiming to continue his good form next season, and hope that this will be enough to convince Luiz Felipe Scolari to pick him for the national team.

Fabio meanwhile, will be hoping to recover from injury which kept him out of much of last season and play a part for Manchester United after spending last season on loan at relegated London club Queens Park Rangers.
