Sambafoot develop strategic partnership between Fluminense and FC IstresFC Istres will loan two young Brazilians -
Sambafoot has been successful in the establishment of a strategic partnership between the reigning Brazilian champions, Fluminense, and French Ligue 2 club, FC Istres, known for the quality of their training and finding young talent.
FC Istres to showcase Fluminense in France
This partnership between Fluminense and FC Istres is based on the exchange of technical, strategic and organisational expertise between the two clubs. The Brazilian team is given the opportunity to enter the French market with the main objective of internationalisation of its brand and the development of young players aged 18-23 years, who have little playing time in the first team in Brazil.
"We met with Fluminense in Brazil in February to present our club and our strategy. They were satisfied and we signed a partnership contract after three months of work. At Fluminense, there are thirty players in the first team and there is no reserve team. In addition, their categories stop at age 20, so there are 50 juniors looking to appear available. Istres offers Fluminense the opportunity to showcase some young talent in Ligue 2," said Henri Cremades, shareholder and executive director of FC Istres.

The internationalisation of Brazilian clubs
For Frédéric Fausser, managing director of Sambafoot, major Brazilian clubs want to enjoy the World Cup and internationalise their brand to showcase their young players. "Brazilian clubs are very open to the world and have realised the benefits of strategic partnerships with markets where their work can be seen. Sambafoot wants to develop this platform between Brazil and Europe by setting up quality club to club processes. We are now working to develop such partnerships in other countries like Germany."
The strategy will be beneficial for all concerned according to the Executive Director of Fluminense, Marcelo Teixeira: "Fluminense is a club that excels in training players in Brazil. To spread our training, we need to work with partner clubs, mainly with those who can provide expertise in terms of tactical work. In this way, Fluminense and Istres form a partnership for the training and development of young players. We are in charge of training athletes to 19/20 years old and Istres will work to showcase the players in France and Europe. This is a medium to long term project and will bring many benefits for both clubs and athletes."
FC Istres will sign two U20 players on loan from Fluminense in the coming weeks and the staff will travel to Brazil to visit Fluminense before the end of the year.
