It has been revealed today that on his return to Vasco, Juninho Pernambucano will play for “free”.

Among the terms of the agreement, yet to be confirmed by the board, it has been decided that the former Lyon midfielder will not receive a wage in his spell at the club, reports Lancenet.

The former Seleção international will instead only receive payment in the way of debt still owed to him by the club from his previous time there, which stem from bonuses and salaries that were unpaid.

The 38-year-old, who has had two previous spells at Vasco, returns to the club from New York Red Bulls until December and will then retire from playing.

This, and other details of his contract, is set to be confirmed by the player himself on Friday when he is expected to join his first training session and be presented as a Vasco player once again.
