Corinthians have announced that Emerson Sheik has extended his contract with the club until July 2015.
Emerson has been a key player for Corinthians in recent years, when the club won the Brazilian national league, Copa Libertadores and the Club World Cup.
The club’s director Roberto de Andrade talked with Rádio Globo about the situation, he said: “I have talked with Emerson, I am confident he will accept our proposal and remain with us. I am almost sure he will stay at Corinthians.”
Flamengo and Vasco were interested in the experienced player, and had reportedly started talks to sign him.
Emerson Sheik is expected to confirm the new agreement with Corinthians after the Recopa game against São Paulo Wednesday night.
